THE TOWN YOU MISS
Herceg Novi – the gateway to Boka. Welcoming and biding adieu, it has witnessed the passage of armies and empires of Illyrians, Turks, Spaniards, Venetians, French, Italians, Portuguese, Germans… leaving behind numerous fortresses and traditions, and it has seen off almost all of them. Herceg Novi is a town of stairs, cliffs and stories painted by families, conquerors, artists, sailors, and the Mediterranean. Stories of churches, greenery, rain, and winds. Beautiful stories, fairy-tale-like, usualy short in summer and long in winter. Herceg Novi is very steep, so everyone can catch their piece of view of the sea. There’s something about Herceg Novi that is enigma to many, but obvious to its people.
